Nate needed what the military calls a “happy snap” for work. I just happen to have a nice digital camera, so we did it ourselves. I was quite pleased with the photo so I thought I would share (incognito of course). Doesn’t he look good in uniform?

You can hear me coming
I have really creaky knees. I’m not sure at what age it started but they’ve been that way for a while. I even have a story of my creaky knees from when we lived here, in Washington, before.
I worked at a company in Tacoma that was in a two story building; the bottom floor was a “store” and warehouse and the top floor was corporate offices (where I worked). We usually went up or down stairs at the employee entrance in the middle of the building. Occasionally I would have to go down to the “store” area to sort things going in the mail to other locations, and when returning to the top floor I would take the stairs leading the front corporate offices. At the top of this staircase was the corporate receptionist. She told me one day that she could tell when I was climbing up the stairs because she could hear me (my knees) coming.
Today while walking up the stairs with Gavin to put him down for a nap, he heard my creaky knees and asked, “Will I have creaky knees like you when I get big?”
Happy Holiday Season and which ever part of it you choose to celebrate
Nate was in charge of putting together the Christmas Party for his work this year, and since we are of no religious affiliation (and Nate hates Christmas anyway) we decided to make it an all inclusive event. The “2009 Holiday Festival”. We had all the bases covered, Menorah and Hanukkah decorations, Kinara and Kwanzaa decorations, Yule log for the Pagans, general winter decorations or Christmas tree for those so inclined, Feliz Navidad sign for the hispanics, and Santa even made an appearance. The only thing that didn’t work out was the Festivus pole.
We didn’t do all of the putting together by ourselves, we did have help from others in the unit and the FRG. However, since they had the planning meeting right before they left for Yakima and the party was for the day after they came back, when I say Nate was in charge of the putting together it was really left to me to do the running around. I have been busy the last two weeks. It has been good for my christmas shopping needs though. All I had to do was say we were shopping for the christmas party, and the kids didn’t pay attention to what I put into the cart. I could but stuff for them too and they never noticed.
The shindig turned out pretty good. There is a BBQ place by where I used to work when we lived here before that will smoke meat for you that you bring to them. The unit was able to get a really good deal that way and the meat we got (turkey) was absolutely delicious. Nate got a lot of compliments and recognition for the event.
We have pictures but you’ll have to check back later to see them.
