Daddy’s Girls – Momma’s Boys

Saedi has always been a Daddy’s girl. Solvei has followed suit rather well. She loves him so much. She makes him smile, and he makes her so happy. When Nate goes out of town for a while sometimes Nels takes a little while before he warms back up to Nate, but Solvei is always happy to see him.

Nels (like Gavin) has pretty much been a Momma’s boy. Which is fine by me.

Tired

I think Nate may already be tired of my new camera. But I love using it. I get such good pictures from it. Like this one. =P

Da Bears!

Nate has gone this weekend to visit Casey in VA. He flew into the area just before a snow storm. This is the weather that he found himself in the day after arrival.

Undaunted by a little snow, they went to a Bears game today!

Tailgating before. If it looks like Nate was cold, it’s because he was!
And the game.

I am so glad he was able to make it out there. :}

He knows me well

I got these delivered today. I didn’t even have to open the box to know exactly what was inside. He knows  what I like.

Nate has been out of town for 2 weeks (he came back today) but he had these sent for when he came home. He feels bad when he has to be out of town when we don’t really know anyone here.

They love Daddy

I have a picture of Nate with all the kids at the airport, when he was going back to the war after the twins were born, as the wallpaper on my computer. Every time I turn my computer on Solvei and Nels come over and point at the screen and say “Daddy” and then get mad when I open a program because it covers the picture. There is also another picture at the bottom of our stairs of me, Nate, Saedi and Gavin. The twins like to sit on the bottom step all the time and when they see that picture (which is often) they always point out Daddy.

I have this in our entry hallway.

Today I came into the hall looking for Solvei because she had wandered out of the living room and hadn’t come back for a few minutes. I found her sitting on the floor in the hall squarely in front of these pictures, pointing to them saying “Daddy,” and grinning repeatedly.

Nels has figured out that he can climb onto the chairs all by himself. Now he won’t stay off the furniture. I can not take him into the living room without him climbing on the couch or chair. He is so proud of himself for doing it too. It’s so cute and such a pain all at the same time.

Bah Humbug!

We got our Christmas decorations up and Nate wishes everyone a Bah Humbug.

It almost looks designer, doesn’t it?

Anniversary

Eleven years and loving it. I don’t know how it ended up, because when it comes down to it we really didn’t know each other very well, but somehow we are completely compatible. I love my husband more now than ever and it just gets better with time.

Nate had to work today (it was friday). I’m also used to not really getting to celebrate today because the military has other plans, but I’m okay with that. When he got home and changed out of uniform I had Saedi take our picture. She did pretty good.

We went out to dinner as a family. It was kind of late so the babies got tired and impatient, and Gavin is still going through another “I don’t want to eat, so I’m going to whine, complain, and play with my food so maybe you won’t make me eat” phase. In other words, same as usual. Nothing too special about it, but I didn’t have to do the dishes so it was still nice. I love my family; I love my husband; I am blissful.

Friends around the world

Out running to the commissary with Gavin, Solvei and Nels today, we stopped to have lunch with Nate. As we were driving, two people in uniforms (we were on an Army post after all) crossed the street at an intersection and we had to wait for them before we could turn. Gavin asked Nate, “how come your friends from work were crossing the street when we’re trying to drive?” I think it’s funny how, just because they work at the same place as Daddy, and they all wear the same uniforms as Daddy, they must be Daddy’s friends. So with those criteria, Nate has roughly 1,106,000 friends and 25,000 close friends. Hope they don’t all come over for dinner!

On this same trip for lunch, Gavin asked me something, I answered, but Gavin wasn’t listening. I am constantly having to repeat myself with the kids. I find it especially irritating when I have to repeat an answer to something they asked. Lately I am often saying, “I’ve just told you, you weren’t listening again were you?” So when I said exactly that to Gavin, he replied with “Mom, I have something to tell you. My ears are awake at night, and asleep in the mornings.”
Nate answered with “But it’s afternoon now so they should be awake, so you can listen.”
Gavin insisted, “No, because afternoon is still part of the morning”
